Just below the Continental Divide, in Jefferson County and the heart of the Deer Lodge Forest, 13 miles from Butte and 79 miles from Bozeman, sits the Homestake Lodge. The location is halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. The Homestake Lodge was created by Chris and Mandy Axelson. With 154 acers of enchanting terrain, a beautiful primary residence, a ski lodge with bunk style accommodations, 3 cabins, a yurt, and a wedding pavilion, the Homestake Lodge is a wonderful place to get away. The 154 acres is divided into 7 parcels with large granite boulder formations, Aspen groves, a creek and several ponds doting the landscape. The terrain is perfect for cross country skiing and the beautiful surroundings make it an ideal place to celebrate a wedding. Being halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, the Axelson's discovered, with a little advertising, they could rent their facilities to traveling tourists, creating a resort location for all seasons.
If you're not interested in running a commercial business, the Homestake Lodge is an ideal place for a recreational ranch, equestrian facility, a family retreat, a corporate retreat, or church camp. The location and year-round traffic, provide endless opportunities for creativity.
